Profile

The department of Commerce functioning under the self-financed section was started in 1981. The B.Com. programme offered, aims to enhance the students to acquire effective communication skills, decision making, problem solving in day to day business affairs. Students learn relevant financial accounting skills, applying both qualitative and quantitative knowledge to their future careers. It also builds a strong foundation of knowledge in different areas of Commerce and develops an attitude for working effectively and efficiently in business environment.

  • A one day UGC sponsored webinar on “Contemporary Issues in Fin-Tech Revolution” was organized on 03.03.2021. Dr. C. Paramasivan, Associate Professor of Commerce, Periyar EVR College, Tiruchirappalli and Dr. Pranam Dhar, Associate Professor, Department of Commerce and Management, West Bengal State University, Kolkata delivered the lecture
  • An awareness programme on "Co-operative Loans” was conducted in the adopted village Mettupatti under Unnat Bharath Abhiyan on 04.03.2021. The faculty enlightened the villagers on different government schemes available and their benefits
  • An association meeting on “Career Road Map Vision 2030” was organized on 18.12.2020. Dr.T.Nandhini, Assistant Professor, School of Commerce, National College, Tiruchirappalli was the resource person
  • A National Webinar on “Entrepreneurial Challenges and Opportunities in Post Covid Era” was conducted on 13.06.2020. Prof.R.Venkatesh, Entrepreneurship Coordinator, Care Business School, Tiruchirappalli addressed the students.
  • A National Webinar on “20 Simple Techniques to Manage Stress” was organized on 13.06.2020. Er.K.Manuraj, Former Chief Engineer, PWD, Tiruchirappalli delivered the lecture
  • A National Webinar on “COVID-19 Pandemic Psychological Preparation for students” was organized on 12.06.2020. Dr.S.Antony Sakthi, Assistant Professor, Department of Chemistry, St.Joseph’s College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli was the resource person.
  • A National Webinar on “Social Impact of Covid-19 on Research" was organized on 12.06.2020.

  • Ms. R.Bhuvaneswari, II B.Com has won first prize in State Level Silambam Championship 2022
  • Ms. A. Ranjana Devi, II B.Com received Kalai Ellamani Award and Cash award of Rs.4000/- for submitting more than 250 certificates and Rs. 1000/- for displaying her art Sanjana Vadiyanathan, II B.Com, won medals in swimming competitions
  • Ms. P.Gomathy of III B.Com received the Best Outgoing YRC Volunteer Award in 2021
  • Ms. B.Thiripurasundari of III B.Com received the Best Outgoing NSS Volunteer Award in 2021
  • Ms. R. Miruthulaa and S.Prathiksha presented the papers on the topic “Impact of COVID-19 on the Indian Labour Market” through virtual mode in 2021
  • Ms. M.Geetha of I.B.Com. received a cash award for 100 meter dash from the honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu in 2018
  • Ms. V.Kokila of I.B.Com. was honoured with "Ellam Kamarasar award" & cash prize received from the District Collector in 2017
  • Ms. R.Laaginya of I B.Com. won first prize in Bhaghavath Geetha Recitation competition held at Andavar College in the year 2017-2018
  • Ms. V. Shrinithi of III B.Com. won first place in photography competition at University level 2017
  • Ms. N. Preethi of III B.Com. won first place in Carnatic vocal solo at Inter college level and vocal senior solo at Regional level 2016–2017
