Profile

The Department of Commerce functioning under the self-financed section was started in 1981. The B.Com. programme offered, aims to enhance the students to acquire effective communication skills, decision making, problem solving in day to day business affairs. Students learn relevant financial accounting skills, applying both qualitative and quantitative knowledge to their future careers. It also builds a strong foundation of knowledge in different areas of Commerce and develops an attitude for working effectively and efficiently in business environment.

A Career Enrichment Programme on “The Journey to Career Excellence” was organized on 14.07.2026 in Vidhya Ganapathi Hall, with Mr. G. Kumar (Finspire Academy) as the resource person, benefiting commerce students with insights on finance careers
A Special Lecture on “Invest for a Better Future: SDGs, Sustainable Finance and Investment opportunities for Young Investors” was held on 02.09.2026 at Bhagavathi Hall where Dr. K. Indumathi, Assistant Professor of Commerce, Jamal Mohammed College (Autonomous), Trichy, as the resource person. The session highlighted sustainable finance, investment opportunities and the importance of responsible investment among young investors
A Special Lecture on “The Career Crossroads: A Guide for Final Year Readiness” was held on 23.09.2026 at Bhagavathi Hall where Dr. K. Sowmiya, Assistant Professor, Srimad Andavan Arts and Science College, Trichy
Dr. T. Sivakami, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Studies, Periyar Maniammai Institute of Science and Technology, delivered a Special Lecture on “Creating a Sustainable Future: The Role of Youth” on 28.09.2026 at Bhagavathi Hall. The session highlighted the role of youth in promoting sustainability and creating a better future
An Intercollegiate Tech Fest, COMGEN – 2K26, was organized on 30.09.2026, featuring various competitions, including Biz Tycoon (Startup Idea), Biz Mystery (Riddles), Jumbleo (Jumbled Letters), LOL to Lead (Meme Creation) and Biz Tok (Decision Making). Around 60 students from various colleges participated in the events, showcasing their creativity, knowledge and decision-making skills

The SUCCESS SQUAD CLUB Inaugural Meeting was successfully conducted on 10.07.2025 on the topic “Gateway to Success for Women.” The programme was graced by Dr. J.A. Arul Chellakumar, Former Vice-Chancellor of Sikkim Professional University, Professor of Economics (Retd.) and Director of CCCU, Bharathidasan University, who served as the resource person.
An Alumna Lecture series on “Cultivate a Positive Attitude among Students” was organized on 24.07.2025, with Ms. Keerthana Periyasamy, Village Administrative Officer (VAO), Uthamarseeli, as the Resource Person.
A Special Lecture on “The world is your market: Thinking Global, Acting Local” was held on 28.07.2025 at Seethalakshmi Hall where Ms. T.S.V. Haridharini (Mindset Coach), Founder of Enlighten. The session highlighted global opportunities and the importance of developing a global mindset.

Ms. S. Karthika Sakthi, Lecturer, Department of Commerce gave a Special Lecture on the topic “The Impact of AI and Automation in Commerce” on 15.12.2025. The session highlighted the role of AI and automation in transforming business operations and improving efficiency in the commerce sector
Ms. S.C. Shrinithi, III-B.com (Applied) and our Peer Champion, delivered a special talk on the topic “From Watching To Doing: Make it Happen” on 16.12.2025. The session encouraged students to take initiative, develop practical skills and turn their ideas into action

On 03.02.2026, an intercollegiate Tech Fest MER MANIA - 2K26 was organized Various competitions such as Com Clash, Cine Mania, Slogan Commercia, Mer Antonym and Entrepreneur’s Edge were held for students from other colleges. Around 50 students have participated in these events

An Association meeting on the topic ‘SELF GROWTH – MINDSET COACHING’ was organised on 10.01.2024. Ms. T.S.V. Haridharani, Mindset coach, Founder of Enlighten was the Resource person
A Two-day virtual national conference on Entrepreneurship and start ups – ESU’24 was organized on 30.12.2024 & 31.12.2024. Professionals from various states and universities served as resource persons
- The resource person for Technical session –I was Dr. R. Rajesh, Assistant professor, Department of Tourism and Hospital Management, Mizoram University (A Central University), Aizawl, Mizoram. He delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Start up Ecosystem In India’.
- Technical Session - 2 was handled by Dr. A. Sadanandan, Assistant professor, Department of Business Studies, Central University of Kerala, Tejaswini Hills, Kasaragod district, Kerala. He clearly explained the concept - ‘Trailblazing Start-ups in Tourism and Hospitality: Shaping the Future of Global Trend’
- The third lecture was given by Dr. G. Arokia Stalin, IQAC Member and Assistant Professor, Professional Accounting and Finance, Kristu Jayanti College (Autonomous), Bangalore, Karnataka. He delivered a highly engaging and intellectually stimulating lecture on the topic ‘Empowering Women to lead: Start up Schemes for Success’
Our Students participated in an extension activity in Irungalur Village for conducting an awareness programme to people on ‘Different types of Cyber Crimes’ on 30.09.2024

PROSPERITY PATHFINDERS CLUB activities for the year 2024-2025 were inaugurated on 14.08.2024. Mrs. A Ms. G. Senthil Vadivu, Senior Advocate, Trichirappalli was the resource person. She spoke on the topic ‘Violence against Women’

Dr. R. Sheela was awarded a Major Research Project by ICSSR, New Delhi. The project titled on “Organizational Role Stress among Employees of IT companies in Bangalore” was sanctioned an amount of Rs. 8,00,000 in 2022
