Founder’s Annadhanam Scheme (Noon Meal Scheme)

Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College stands as the first college established for women’s education in the city of Tiruchirappalli. This institution has beenfunctioning as a temple of learning for over 70 years, imparting tradition and discipline. It is often said that hunger can drive away all virtues. A person suffering from hunger cannot live happily. Many evil deeds occur due to the pain of hunger. Hence, Tamil literature highlights the importance of those who provide food, equating them to life-givers. Even today, it is a harsh reality that many people do not have access to basic necessities like food. Just as a mother feeds her child to satisfy its hunger, philanthropist Panchapakesan, with motherly love, showed concern for the welfare of economically disadvantaged students. Therefore, in 2004, he introduced the Annadhana (free meal) scheme for students suffering from hunger. Since 2021, this scheme has been operating under the name of Mrs. Vasantha Panchapakesan, the coordinator of the Seethalakshmi Ramaswami educational campus. It is noteworthy that this scheme provides delicious and healthy food free of cost to young girls. Numerous students who have benefited from this scheme have graduated and now hold various positions in the government. Currently, 320 students are benefiting from the Mrs. Vasantha Panchapakesan Annadhana Scheme. As the saying goes, “Even if the mouth does not praise, the stomach will,” and may the blessings of the students who have benefited from this scheme ensure that this institution and the Annadhana scheme continue for generations to come.
