Counselling Cell

The genial environment created at the Counselling Centre of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, enables students to express freely and resolve their problems. The Counselling Centre works with a vision to provide students with a holistic knowledge of values, self-care, interpersonal skills and self-efficacy. Counselling Centre was inaugurated on 28.01.2015.

Goal

To develop the BASICS (Behaviour, Attitudes, Skills, Integrity, Competency & Service) which are vital for the complete development of women students, who are at the crossroads of establishing themselves for a strong future.

Activities
  • A special lecture titled "Balancing Screen Timing for Wellbeing" was jointly organized by the Department of Physical Education, Students Counselling Cell, Anti-Ragging Committee and MANASA Club for Mental Wellness on 21.09.2024 at Vidhya Ganapathy Hall, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli. The primary goal of the lecture was to address the critical issue of managing screen time for the overall health and wellbeing of students, especially in the digital age.
  • The Resource person was Ms. S. Jessica Grace, M.Sc. Psychology, Provisional Zone Trainer of JCI India, with a background in clinical psychology and training made her well-equipped to discuss the effects of excessive screen time on mental, emotional, and physical health.
  • A Special Lecture on “Cyber Safety and Gender Sensitivity” was organized by the Students Counselling Cell, Department of Physical Education, and the Anti-Ragging Committee of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College on 25.09.2024. The session was led by Ms. T. Jayanthi Rani, B.Sc., B.L., a prominent advocate and former member of the Tamil Nadu State Commission for Protection of Child Rights. The lecture aimed to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe in the digital world and promoting sensitivity towards gender issues, especially among the young Women generation.
