Gender Champion Club is an initiative taken by Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College to create positive social norms that value girls and women and their rights to improve their well-being and achieve long-term and sustainable social change to foster equal treatment for engagement of gender champions in all educational institutions.
Objectives
- To prepare responsible leaders who will facilitate an enabling environment within the college
- To advocate gender equality
- To monitor progress towards gender justice
- To provide an integrated and interdisciplinary approach to understanding the social and cultural constructions of gender that shape the experiences of women and men in society
- To make girls gender sensitive and create positive social norms that value girls and their rights
Gender Champion Club at SRC
The Gender champion club was started on the campus in 2017. It has enrolled 100 volunteers belonging to the first year undergraduate course. The Nodal officers plan the activities pertaining to the gender issues and welfare measures offered to these volunteers.
