Profile

Sanskrit , the treasure trove of ancient Indian achievements and the epitome of Bharatiya tradition and culture is the favorite subject of our founder Padmabhushan Shri. N. Ramaswami Ayyar. Falling in line with the value promoted by the institution to empower women through education in the background of Indian culture, the PG department of Sanskrit was established in 2017 under the self-financed section.


Goals
  • To promote higher study in Sanskrit language and literature
  • To impart language skills necessary for effective communication in Sanskrit
  • To give exposure to the various well developed knowledge systems in Sanskrit
  • To ensure holistic personality development through Sanskrit studies

  Objectives

  • To develop curriculum that brings out the richness of Sanskrit literature and its contribution to various fields of knowledge
  • To teach Paninian grammar and linguistics for better understanding of the structure of Sanskrit
  • To impart ethics, human values and social values by introducing relevant literature in the language
  • To give an experience of the spiritual aspects of our culture to students by introducing the rich philosophical literature in the language
  • To train students in conversational Sanskrit to better their communicative performance
  • To improve quality of human life through the study of philosophical, moral and ethical literature available in Sanskrit

  • Webinar on An Overview of Ancient Indian Astronomy was organised jointly with the PG & Research Department of Physics on 16.06.2020. Inaugural address was delivered by the Principal Dr. R. Padmavathy. Dr. S. Usha, Associate Professor of Sanskrit gave an introduction to Indian Astronomy and Ms. Janaki Ramakrishnan spoke on Some Insights into Kerala School of Astronomy
  • Webinar on The Ancient Indian Architectural Science – Vastuwas organised on 15.06.2020, Dr. N. R. Dave, Vastu Specialist, Chennai was the resource person
