The department of Electronics was started in the year 1986.B.Sc. Electronics and M.Sc. Electronics are offered. The department is committed to achieve excellence in academic programmes. The department has a good infrastructure with well-equipped laboratories and houses an exclusive library. The department regularly organises programmes such as International conferences, seminars, workshops, guest lecturers in collaboration with PG & Research department of Physics. Every year the department organizes exhibition titiled “E-mela” to bring out the talents and to motivate the technical skills in students in technical activities. The department encourages students to involve in in-house projects and inter–departmental projects. The department of electronics ensures excellent employment opportunities in scientific laboratories, electronic industries, academic Institutions, Indian Space Research Organization , Defense DRDO etc.The department has signed Memorandum of Understanding with leading institutions like Robokart in collaboration with IIT-Mumbai, Crisp System India(pvt) Limited, Decibel Institute of Technology.

- A hands on training workshop by Pantech Solutions Trichy on the topic “ Embedded System Applications Using PIC Microcontroller and C- Language” conducted on 13.09.2022
- An international webinar on “Application of Physics in Industrial Automation” was organized on 22.07.2020 Dr. Srinivasan Murugan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering, Dhofar University, Oman was the resource person
- A national webinar on "Advanced Text Processing using LaTeX" was organized on 27.06.2020. Prof. Durjoy Roy, Head, Department of Electronics Science, Rishi Bankim Chandra College, West Bengal was the resource person
- An online quiz competition on “Enrich your Electronics” was conducted from 16.06.2020 to 20.06.2020. More than 600 students partcipated
- A workshop on “Mobile Making” was conducted in collaboration with Robokart, IIT Mumbai and the department of Physics on 20.09.2019 and 21.09.2019

- Ms. R. Pavithra of I B.Sc Electronics won the third prize in Kolam competition conducted by Dinamalar, at UDC College on 18.01.2023
- Our students secured the first place in project display in the "National Science Day" conducted by Kulithalai Government Arts College, Trichy on 22.02.2019
- Our students published three papers in the International conference “ICNEST- 2014” held at Sri Vasavi College, Erode in 2014.
