The department of Computer Science was started in the year 1985, under the self-financed section. The department offers Bachelor of Computer Science and Master of Computer Applications.

- Organized a National Level Technical Meet “TECHBLITZ’23”, a POSTER PRESENTATION competition on 31.01.2023
- Organized a National Level Technical Meet “TECHNOVA’23”, a WEB DESIGNING competition on 24.01.2023
- Organized a department level event “QUCON 2023” , a Quiz competition for the II year (Computer Application and Computer Science) students
- An awareness programme on prevention against COVID-19 was organised in the adopted village Agalanganallur on 05.03.2021. Sanitizers and soaps were distributed to the villagers.
- An awareness quiz on advent of new technology was conducted from 08.06.2020 to 16.06.2020. More than 1200 teachers and scholars participated
- A webinar on "Containerization" was organised on 13.06.2020. Ms. A. Chitra, Advisory Software Engineer, IBM, Bangalore was the resource person
- An international webinar on "Microservices Architecture" was conducted on 23.06.2020. Mrs. Porkodi Muthusamy, Senior Software Engineer, CTS, Singapore was the resource person.
- Computer literacy and women empowerment programmes were organised in the adopted village Mettupatti under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan on 25.01.2020 and 20.02.2020. The participants were given inputs on usage of technology for e-learning, e-booking, e-shopping, e-business and online payments
- Ms. S. Kanagambigai, Lecturer, received the "Best Teacher" Award from Lions Club of Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu in 2020
- Ms. S. Kanagambigai, Lecturer, has been honored with the award "Perasiriyar Kalaimani Viruthu" by Kaviyarasar Kalai Tamizh Sangam, Paramathivelur, Namakkal, Tamil Nadu in 2019

- Ms. V. Bhuvaneshwari of III BCA participated in the state level declamation contest on Patriotism and National Building as a part of Republic Day Celebration, conducted by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Government of India in 2020
- Ms. A. Vaishnavi of III BCA won the second place in intercollegiate sports tournament held at Meenakshi Ramasamy College, Thathanur, Jayamkondam in 2019

- Extension activity of “Awareness on Digital Literacy”- Punganur, a village survey conducted on 21.01.2023 and followed by computer literacy programme through digital Literacy 21.01.2023 carried out in the same village
- Ms. R.Devi and Ms. R. Vijayalakshmi served as judges in the national level competitions organized by the Department of Zoology in collaboration with OISCA International, Japan in 2020
