Profile
The library of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College was incepted in 1951. It is treasure house of resources by disseminating knowledge and information. The library sprawls around an area of 6674 sq.ft. The Library is automated with a digital catalogue of books and documents. The collections in the library include books, national and international journals, standard newspapers and magazines and online e-resources, with a membership in INFLIBNET-NLIST, DELNET & NDLI. The library provides information services, reference services, bibliographic services and reprographic services, and is a power house of knowledge, quenching the academic thirst of users. The library is providing a user friendly environment.

- To maintain an organized collection of high quality books, journals and materials to extend professional assistance to all its users
- To incorporate latest technologies in dissemination of knowledge and adapt user-friendly approach

Rules and Regulations
- All the students are members of the college Library
- The library will function from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm on all working days
- The library books will be issued by producing the library card bearing the name and register number of the student
- The loss of the library card must be immediately brought to the notice of the librarian and a requisition is to be made in writing for the issue of a duplicate card
- No student shall depute another to take books on her behalf
- The books will be issued to the students during afternoon and issued books should be returned in the forenoon
- The librarian may recall any book at any time, even if the allocated period has not expired
- Students are strictly warned against marking or underlining in the library books
- Compensation for the books damaged/missed must be paid according to the prevailing price (or) replace with new books
- If a book is not returned on the due date or when recalled, a fine should be remitted
- All the books must be returned to the library before one week at the end of each semester
- Periodicals should be referred in the library only
- One hour is provided for all the classes to utilise library
- All the personal belongings should be left at the entrance of the library

2026
- A Special Lecture on “Power of Reading: A Pathway to Success” was organised on 28.01.2026. Dr. R. Maheswaran, University Librarian, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, served as the Resource Person. The programme highlighted the role of reading in academic achievement, personal development and lifelong learning
- Book Review Day was organised on 27.02.2026 on the theme “The Art of Reading & Reviewing.” The programme encouraged students to develop reading, critical evaluation and communication skills through book- review activities
- The General Library organised the Library Orientation Programme – 2026 on 10.07.2026 for I year students, introducing them to library resources, services, digital databases and effective use of information resources
- The General Library–Readers Club celebrated National Librarians’ Day on 12.08.2026 with a seminar on “Beyond the Classroom: Exploring the Latest Technology and Trends” commemorating the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan with Dr. T. Prakash, Librarian, Nandha College of Technology, Erode, as the resource person
- The General Library–Readers Club organised an International Literacy Day Speech Competition on 1.09.2026 on the theme “One Book - One New World”
- A General Library Book Exhibition was organised on 16.09.2026 & 17.08.2026 at Akilandeswari Auditorium. Various publishers and distributors displayed a wide range of academic, reference, competitive-examination, research, fiction, non-fiction and self-development books
- The PG Department of Computer Science and General Library organised a
National Level One Week Faculty Development Programme from 21.09.2026 to 26.09.2026 in virtual mode on the theme “Artificial Intelligence for
Multidisciplinary Research, Innovation and Academic Excellence”. The
programme featured expert sessions on AI-ready academia, AI in teaching,
learning & research, AI for science, technology & healthcare, AI in
humanities & augmented cognition for interdisciplinary course design
2025 - The General Library organised a seminar on “The Role of Open Educational Resources in Modern Education” on 14.02.2025, with Dr. S. Krithika as the resource person and 120+ students participating. The session highlighted the benefits, platforms and applications of OER in enhancing accessible and technology-driven learning
- A Library Orientation Programme was organised on 21 st June 2025 for newly admitted first-year undergraduate students to familiarise them with library resources, facilities, services and digital information resources.
- The Readers’ Club was inaugurated on 27.06.2025 to encourage reading habits, critical thinking, book discussions and active engagement with literature among students.
- National Reading Day was observed on 11.07.2025 on the theme “Books as Best Friends: Motivation & Values through Reading” as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Dr.N.Valarmathi, Librarian, Government Arts & Science College, Idappadi as the resource person.
- National Librarians’ Day was observed on 21.08.2025 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. S. R. Ranganathan and to highlight the significance of libraries in promoting lifelong learning. Mr.N.Rajkumar, NIT, Trichy as the resource person.
- A Two-Day Virtual International Seminar titled “Navigating the Research Landscape: Techniques and Tools” was jointly organised by the General Library and the Department of Hospital Administration under the SRC Research Colloquium on 29.08.2025 & 30.08.2025. The programme provided participants with insights into contemporary research techniques, tools and scholarly practices.
- A Grand Book Exhibition was organised by the General Library on 24.09.2025 & 26.09.2025
at Akilandeswari Auditorium as part of the Platinum
Jubilee celebrations, with the theme “Book is a Window to the World – See
Life through Books.” A wide range of academic, reference and general
books was displayed for the benefit of students and faculty
2024 - A one-day seminar on “Strategies for Academic Empowerment: Unlocking the Potential of N-LIST Resources” was organised by the General Library in collaboration with IQAC on 2.02.2024. Dr. S. Aravind, Librarian and Head, Central Library and Department of Library & Information Science, GTN Arts College (Autonomous), Dindigul, served as the Resource Person
- Library Orientation Programme – 2024: The General Library organised a Library Orientation Programme on 25.06.2024 on the topic “Utilization of Library Resources” for UG and PG students
- National Librarians’ Day – 2024: The General Library organised a Students Training Programme on 13.08.2024 on “Exploring the Power of Open Access: Effective Strategies for E-Resource Utilization,” where Dr. T. Sureshkumar, Librarian, National College (Autonomous), Tiruchirappalli, highlighted open access resources, e-books, academic resources and consortium-based resource sharing
- The General Library organised a Book Exhibition on 12.08.2024 & 13.08.2024, at the General Library to promote reading habits and provide students and faculty with access to a wide range of academic and general books
- The General Library organised “Tiruchiye Vaasi” on 20 th September 2024 - Book Reading Awareness Programme with 250+ student participants. The programme encouraged reading habits, self-motivation and personal growth. The event was organised by Dr. S. Subha, Librarian
- A Faculty Development Programme on “Optimizing Research Strategies
Towards Academic Productivity” was organised from 23.09.2024 & 25.09.2024, comprising a series of sessions focusing on research skills, academic

2023 - World Book and Copyright Day – 2023: The General Library organised a seminar on 24.04.2023 on the theme “Promoting Reading Habits” to highlight the importance of reading and copyright protection
- A Library Orientation Programme for the 2023 Batch was organised by the General Library on 4.07.2023 & 05.07.2023 on the topic “Utilization of Library Resources” to familiarise newly admitted students with library resources, services and facilities
- National Librarian’s Day was observed on 11.08.2023 with a one-day seminar on “Optimizing the Utilization of Library Resources.” Dr. R. Balasubramani, Associate Professor, Department of Library and Information Science, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, served as the Resource Person
- A Book Exhibition was organised on 10.10.2023 & 11.10.2023 at the General Library to promote reading habits and provide students and faculty with access to a wide range of academic and general books
- A Faculty Development Programme was organised in collaboration with
