Sports

 

The department of Physical Education, established in 1951, gives special coaching to the students in Volley ball, Kabaddi ,Basket ball, Hockey, Foot ball, Ball badminton, Table tennis, Shuttle, Kho-kho, Net ball, Hand ball, Athletics. Our college sports teams participate in All India Inter University tournaments& National level tournaments representing Bharathidasan University, and Tamil Nadu teams every year.

Goals

  • To develop the all round personality of women students
  • To make them  good citizens in order to contribute in the process of nation building
  • By making them physically fit, mentally alert, emotionally balanced, morally true and spiritually uplifted

Objectives

  • To develop students’ endurance, speed, strength and physical fitness to lead a happy and  healthy life
  • To develop traits such as cooperation, respect , loyalty, sportsmanship and self confidence

  • The Alumnae Sports Meet (Netball & Volleyball Tournament) was conducted by the Department of Physical Education on 13.12.2025
  • In collaboration with the Tamil Nadu State Netball Association Department of Physical Education, organised a State Level Netball Coaching Camp from 17.07.2025 to 20.07.2025 for participating in the South Zone Netball Championship Tournament
  • The Smt. Vasantha Panchapakesan Memorial Trophy State-Level Invitation Tournament for Kho-Kho and Table Tennis was organised by the Department of Physical Education on 01.08.2025
  • The Annual Sports Meet was organised on 31.08.2025. Mr K.S. Mohamed Nizammuddin, Asian medallist and national athletic coach, was the chief guest. The Overall Winner Shield was bagged by the Department of Physics from the Aided section and the Department of Computer Applications from the Self-Financed section
  • The District Level Kids Athletics Meet was organised on 2nd August 2025 in collaboration with the Tiruchirapalli District Association
    • The Department of Physical Education and Centre for Ethics and Human Values organised the International Yoga Day in collaboration with Krishnamachariya Yoga Mandiram, Chennai, on 21.06.2025
  • In collaboration with Trichy Amateur Netball Association organised Junion State Level Netball Coaching Camp from 03.02.2025 to 07.02.2025

  • Inter Departmental Chess competition was organized in connection with the National sports day on 29.08.2024
  • Srimadhi Vsantha Panchapakesan State Level Memorial Tournament for KHO-KHO and Table Tennis were organized by the department of Physical Education on 14.08.2024.
  • International Yoga day 2024 was celebrated on 21.06.2024 by the Department of Physical Education and Centre for Ethics and Human values in collaboration with Krishnamacharya Yoga Mandiram, Chennai. The theme of the yoga day was “Yoga for Self and Society”

  • 15 yoga students participated in the world record attempt for the maximum number of participants attempting Natarajasana for 60 seconds to promote awareness for good health and wellbeing. This feat was officially registered in the Oscar Book of Rewards on 01.02.2026
  • Ms. B. Priyadharshini of III Computer Science (SF) received the Silambam Master Award on 26.12.2025 from the Aravind Educational and Martial Arts Association, Trichy
  • Ms. M. Vishali of III BBA received the Kalaimamani Gururathna Award on 01.02.2026 from the Indian Yogasana Sports Federation, Chennai
    • 10 yoga students participated in the world record event in yoga by holding Upavistha Konasana for 2 minutes. This feat was officially registered in the Book of International World Records and recognised by the State and the Central Government
  • Ms. S. Priya of III Tamil, S. Geethanjali of III Computer Science, S. Mahagauri of II M.Sc. Physics, N. Brindha of III Tamil, and S. Dhanusree of II BCA received a cash award of Rs. 20,000 for securing first place in various sports events at the Youth Sports Festival – Idhu Namma Attam 2026, organised by the Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu

Vedeesha of III B.A., Music has received the certificate for setting a world Record by participating in International Yoga day with Habuild on 21.06.2024 and she has participated in the World Record for “Largest Attendance in a Virtual Mediation Class” on World Meditation Day on 21.12.2024
  • Ms. M. Vishali of II BBA & Ms. P. Vedeesha of III B.A., Music has participated in Maximum Number of Participants attempting Cobra Pose (Bhujangasana) for 150 Seconds by holding a cup of water on forehead. This is considered as New World Record and registered in the Noble World Records in 2nd February 2025
  • Ms. R. Gayathri of II B.Sc., Computer Science, Ms. V. Pandi meena of II BCA , Ms. M. Sivasankari, and Ms. R. Ellakiya of I B.A.,Tamil secured second place in State level Netball Championship held at Indra Ganesan College of Engineering, on 8th and 9th February 2025

  • Our College Netball Team bagged Runners Trophy in Bharathidhasan University Inter Netball Tournament held at Swami Dhyanandha College, Manjakudi.
  • Our College Kho-Kho Team bagged Runners Trophy in Bharathidhasan University Inter KHO-KHOl Tournament held at HH.Rajah’s College, Pudukottai.
  • Our college yoga team secured fourth place in Inter-Collegiate Yoga Competition held at Aandavar Arts and Science College, Trichy.

2023-2024

  • The department of Physical Education hosted the Bharathidasan University Intercollegiate Taekwondo Championship on 06.02.2024. Gold medals were secured by Ms. R. Samyuktha of III English, Ms. G. Vaishnavi Devi of III Commerce. Ms. S. Shalini of III Biotechnology, Ms. N. Dharshini, of II Tamil Ms. R.S. Dharani of II Chemistry secured Silver medals and Bronze medals were secured by Ms. J.Tharika & Ms. T.S.Anbarasi of II Economics, Ms. V.Ambujavalli of III Commerce Applied and who also won the trophy for Overall champion
  • The Bharathidasan University Intercollegiate Netball Tournament was organized on 05.01.2024 & 06.01.2024. Our college team secured first place and won the Champion Trophy
  • Ms. K. Meenakshi of III Commerce won first place in the Silambam National Open Championship held at Trichy. She has been performing Silambam nonstop for 3 hours. Her performance registered in Dubai Einsteen World Record & Panchappdha Book of World Record
  • Ms. R.Bhuvaneshwari of III Commerce registered her 8-hour Silambam performance in the Indian book of World record
  • Ms. Sanjana Vaidhyanathan of III Commerce (SF) won 2 gold medals and 3 silver medals in the Bharathidasan University Intercollegiate Swimming Competition and our college team secured Over all III Place
  • Ms. S. Harshini of III Physics, Ms. R.Sowbarnika of III BCA, Ms. R.Swetha of II Mathematics won the Runners Trophy in State level Softball Tournament
  • At the District level Athletic Meet, Ms. R. Hema of II Tamil secured second place in both the Javelin and Discus throw events, Ms. R. Swetha of II Mathematics secured second place in the Javelin throw event, and Ms. T. Saranya of II Tamil secured second place in the Discus throw event
  • Volleyball team secured III place in the District Level Chief Minister Trophy Tournament
  • In the District Level Chief Minister Trophy Swimming Competition, Sanjana Vaidiyanadhan of III Commerce (SF) won First Place.
  • From 27.12.2023 to 31.12.2023, the Interuniversity Volleyball Tournament was held at Tirupati in which Ms. S. Mahagauri of III Physics represented our University.
  • Ms. S.V.Divya Kumari and Ms. M. Ramya from II Tamil participated in the All India Interuniversity Kho-Kho Tournament, which was held from 26.12.2023 to 30.12.2023 at Central University, Thiruvarur
  • Ms. V. Nishithini from II Computer Science took part in the Interuniversity Handball Tournament held at Salem
  • At SRM University, Chennai, Ms. Sanjana Vaidhyanathan III, Commerce (SF), represented our university by competing in the Interuniversity Swimming Competition
