Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli under the aegis of the department of Physics has been offering Bachelor of Vocation in Electronics Circuit Designer and Electrician sanctioned by the National Skill Development Corporation under University Grants Commission since the academic year 2018-2019, with a focus on establishing an effective and efficient ecosystem for developing and imparting outcome oriented skills for the Electronics Systems, Design and Manufacturing Industry (ESDM). Electronics Sector Skill Council of India envisions to enable a world class electronics manufacturing industry with an ecosystem for skill development and to enhance employability of the large number of Indian human resource. The employment in the Electronics industry is estimated to grow phenomenally. B.Voc. programme is highly beneficial for candidates who want to enhance their employment opportunities, as the programme imparts practical training rather than mere theoretical knowledge and provides adequate skills required for a particular trade. This programme is different from traditional academic programmes as it exclusively deals with application-based study.

Activities
  • Five books with ISBN namely Electricity Laboratory, Tools Operations and Basic Soldering Lab, Troubleshooting Electronic Equipments, Electrical Safety and Troubleshooting were published.
  • Nine students of 2020-2021 batch appeared for the Skill Development Component (SDC) exam conducted by National Skill Development Corporation on 08.04.2021. Mr.M.Muthukumar assessed the candidates for level 4 – Testing Technician – ELE/Q1801. Students secured cent percent result.
  • A Webinar on Basic Tools and Operations was organized on 05.03.2021. Mr.T.Ramachandran,Guest Faculty, Department of Physics, Periyar E.V.R College,Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu served as the resource person.
  • A Workshop on Home Appliances – Service and Maintenance was organized on 04.03.2021. Mr.T.Ramachandran,Guest Faculty, Department of Physics, Periyar E.V.R College,Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu was the resource person.
  • Students of 2018 & 2019 batch appeared for the Skill Development Component exam conducted by National Skill Development Corporation on 07.01.2021. Online exam was conducted for level 5–Electronic Hardware Design Engineer ELE/Q6102. All the students completed the exam successfully.
  • An International Webinar on Application of Physics in Industrial Automation was organized on 22.07.2020. Dr.Srinivasan Murugan, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering, Dhofar University, Oman was the special invitee.
  • A National Webinar on Advanced Text Processing using LaTeX was organized on 27.06.2020. Prof.Durjoy Roy, HOD, Department of Electronics Science, Rishi Bankim Chandra College, West Bengal was the special invitee.
  • Six students of 2019-2020 batch appeared for the Skill Development Component (SDC) exam conducted by National Skill Development Corporation on 18.03.2020. Mr.R.Muralikrishnan assessed the candidates for level 4 - Testing Technician - ELE/Q1801. All the six have successfully completed the exam.
  • A UGC sponsored one day national technical workshop under NSQF on Maintenance of Electrical & Electronic Equipments was organized on 29.02.2020. Mr. Durjoy Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Electronic Science, Rishi Bankim Chandra College, West Bengal, Mr.R.Sathyanarayanan,Technical Assistant, Decibel Institute of Electronics, Tiruchirappalli, Mr.T.Ramachandran, Guest Faculty, Department of Physics, Periyar E.V.R College, Tiruchirappalli and Mr.R.Rajakumar, Assistant Professor, DDU KAUSHAL Kendra, Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli, were the resource persons.
  • A workshop on PCB Designing and Fabrication using Proteus was organized from 10.02.2020 to 13.02.2020. Mr.S.Parimala Prabhu, M.E., Chairman & Mr.R.Sathiyanarayanan, MS (IT) Decibel Institute of Electronics, Tiruchirappalli were the special invitees.
  • A UGC sponsored one day national seminar under NSQF on Designing and Debugging of Electronics Circuit (NSDDEC-2020) was organized on 21.01.2020. Er. D. Rajasekaran, Senior Application Engineer, Axis Global Automation group of companies, Bengaluru, Karnataka and Mrs. Bhavya Kamal K Menon, Assistant Professor, MES College, Aluva, Marampally, Kerala were the resource persons.
  • Nine students of 2018-2019 batch appeared for the Skill Development Component (SDC) exam conducted by National Skill Development Corporation on 15.12.2019. Mr.R.Muralikrishnan assessed the candidates for level 4 - Testing Technician - ELE/Q1801.
  • A one day workshop on Testing Technician was organized on 14.11.2019. Mr.S.Parimala Prabhu, M.E., Chairman, Decibel Institute of Electronics handled the sessions.
  • A technical session on the handling of basic electronic tools, repair and maintenance of electronics & electrical circuits were organized on 12.11.2019. Mr.Venkatnarayanan, Chief Electrician, Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, was the invitee.
  • A one day field visit was arranged on 27.09.2019 to Government Polytechnic College, Sethurapatti, Srirangam, Tiruchirappalli. Students had the exposure of visiting laboratories and service centre.
  • A one day workshop on PCB Circuit Designing was organized on 23.09.2019. Mr.S.Parimala Prabhu, M.E., Chairman, Decibel Institute of Electronics, was the invitee.
  • A one day seminar was organized on 20.09.2019 by the departments of Home science, Nutrition and Dietetics and Physics for the students of Bachelor of Vocational programme under National Skill Development Corporation on Prospects of Vocational Education in India.
