Profile

The department of Home Science was started in the year 1961 with the introduction of B.Sc. Home Science, a life science management course that caters to the discipline of Arts, Science and Humanities. Home Science deals with the daily activities, such as food, clothing, shelter, finance, health, child care, beautification and community services. The knowledge inculcated through Home Science helps to upgrade the standard and quality of life, family and the society as a whole and to reach the extremities in all activities of life with skills and talents. Home Science aids to combat the challenges in higher education and update itself to the changing scenario. The five disciplines of Home Science namely Food Science & Nutrition, Textiles & Clothing, Family Resource Management, Human Development and Extension Education is relevant to the day-to-day life. The ultimate purpose is to achieve the welfare and well-being of the family in an ever changing society.

Goals

To provide maximum opportunities available in all the five disciplines of Home Science to equip the students in becoming self-sufficient in skills and self-reliable.
To encourage students for higher education in Home Science disciplines and improve their quality of living.

Objectives
