Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College - Deparment of Computer Science

Profile

The department of Computer Science was started in 1985 with B.Sc. Computer Science and was elevated to a Postgraduate department in 1988 offering M.Sc., Computer Science. Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College is the first Arts and Science college, under Bharathidasan University, to offer this course for women. The department has been producing 100% result for the past 25 years at UG & PG level. UG students undergo an additional carrier oriented diploma course in Information Technology along with their degree programme. The department is equipped with a well-furnished computer laboratory and a library with the latest journals and books.

Our Department has been producing 100% result for the past 35 years both at the UG & PG level
International Conference was conducted in the academic year 2023 - 2024 with the Technical speakers from six different countries. with technical debate, technical talk and technical paper presentation from the domain experts of computer fields.
Students are being placed in Leading Companies like WIPRO, TCS, INFOSYS, AXIS Bank, CTS, ASPIRE etc., and also in various schools and colleges of Tamil Nadu.
National level competition DIGIART of different themes such as Women Empowerment in Digital India, Your dream Earth, One World is being conducted every year with participants from different states and cash prizes are being awarded to the winners.
Career Oriented Professional course (Diploma in Information Technology) is being provided along with UG Degree Course
Faculty members publish papers in Scopus, UGC CARE, WOS, reputed National and International journals, Open access journals and online journals. Seventy six research papers were published in Journals by the faculty members till 2023.

Students participated and exibited their technical skills of digital technologies actively to create awareness about cybercrimes, preventions and also taught secured internet usage of digital technologies to the people of nearby villages such as Panayakurichy and Kuruvampatti in Trichirappalli District through the Extension activities.
Students engage themselves actively in Swachhta Pakhwada activities in Health and Hygiene activities through skit, play and pamphlet distributions, created awareness to the nearby schools and creating awareness among the public.
