Dr.R.Padmavathy, M.Sc., M.Phil., PGDCA, Ph.D., FASI is the Principal of Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli. She is the head of the postgraduate and research department of Physics. She did her M.Phil. at Seethalakshmi Ramaswami College, Tiruchirappalli. She obtained Ph.D. degree from Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. Her teaching experience spans for more than three decades. Her areas of specialization are Liquid State Physics, Spectroscopy and Ultrasonics.
Dr.Padmavathy has held various positions as Inspection Committee member, Selection Committee member, Chairperson of Board of Studies and external examiner. She has evaluated more than fifteen colleges as a Triennial Inspection Commission member of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchirappalli. She has served as a Selection Committee member for many colleges under Bharathidasan University. She has also served as a referee at the International Congress on Ultrasonics held at Singapore.
She is the Chairperson of UG Physics and Applied Physics, Bharathidasan University, and has served as the Co-Chairperson of National Symposium on Acoustics, Research Center, Imarat, DRDO, Hyderabad. She is also the doctoral research committee member for many research scholars in the state. She is a life member of the Acoustical Society of India and the Ultrasonic Society of India. She is appointed as the member of National Editorial Advisory Board of Bulletin of Pure and Applied Sciences - Physics (Started in 1982).
She has presented papers in all the conferences she has attended and has published her research findings in reputed international and national journals. She had been the principal investigator for various UGC sponsored research projects. She has produced 28 M.Phil. and 3 Ph.D. scholars and is currently guiding 3 Ph.D. research scholars.
She is the senate member of Bharathidasan University. She has been the Inspection Commission member of provisional affiliation for establishing new department /college.
